"Your smoothie game is strong."
That's what Aaron told me as we were driving back from a gorgeous weekend on the Oregon coast.
We'd been discussing eating/grocery shopping habits for our household and, while he may have been hinting that I spend a tad much on add-ins, superfoods, and the like, I took it as a total compliment. Smoothie season is coming and I plan to make the most of it!
Often, smoothies can get a bit repetitive. I don't think this is really a bad thing, but it's always fun to be inspired by other folks' concoctions. So in the spirit of sharing, here's what I had after a killer Barre3 class this morning. The aloe is for hydrating, the potato starch is for gut health, and the whey protein is to reward my tired muscles. I also add Vitamineral Green to just about every smoothie I ever make. I love the combo of sea veggies and herbs in the formulation!
Post-Barre Replenishing Smoothie
makes 1 serving
- 2 Tbs aloe pulp (you can use aloe juice from the store!)
- heaping 1/2 cup fresh or frozen mango
- 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
- 1/2 small avocado
- 1/2 cup coconut or almond milk
- 1 tsp Vitamineral Green
- 2 tsp potato starch
- 1 serving whey protein
Blend everything together, drink immediately.
I hope everyone had a great weekend!
